Horus
In Egyptian mythology, Horus suffered the loss of his left eye during a battle with Seth, his uncle. He tore it into six pieces and threw them into the Nile in response to the death of Osiris. Thoth recovered all but one of the fragments and restored the eye by unifying it. The Wedjat Eye has a magical connotation related to protection, restoration, and the perception of invisible things. It is depicted on sarcophagi, pectorals, and eye-shaped amulets that were worn to protect against evil. Embalmers placed this eye on the incisions during mummification, and ships painted it on their bows to help them navigate.
